The museum, designed by Tadao Ando, features permanent installations by Claude Monet, James Turrell, and Walter De Maria. This museum, created through a synergy of ideas between the artist and the architect, can be considered a colossal site-specific work in its entirety. To preserve the beautiful landscape of the Seto Inland Sea, the majority of the building is buried underground.
