Transportation within the island

What are the transportation options on the island?

MainlyBus and rental bicycleis.
The southern half of the loop, connecting the port to the art facilities, takes 2 hours on foot. While it's not an impossible walk, it has many slopes and little shade, so it's best to avoid it, especially in summer.

There are only two taxis on the island. *Maximum capacity of 9 people.

Reservations: Nissin Taxi Dispatch Center 087-882-2424

Okawa Taxi, Naoshima Office, 087-851-3356

There are also several rental cars available.

Which do you recommend, the bus or rental bicycles?

There are pros and cons.
Buses must adhere to their schedules, and if you miss one, you'll have to wait 20 to 50 minutes for the next. However, the fare is only 100 yen per adult per ride, and you don't have to worry too much about rain, heat, or cold.
Bicycles allow you to make effective use of your time, but they can be quite expensive, and depending on the weather and temperature, they require considerable physical strength. There are few flat roads on the island, so a typical "mamachari" (without gears) would be very difficult.

During peak seasons, buses are often full and you may not be able to board, and all rental bicycles may be rented out by late morning, so please be aware.

Where can I rent a bicycle?

At Miyaura Port, there are three establishments along the road where you disembark, and one more about 50 meters further in from there.Rental bicycle shopVehicles and prices vary by shop. There are also some in the Honmura district, but they are scattered.
Some shops have bookable bicycles and children's bikes for rent.

Does the town bus run frequently?

Ferries from Uno & TakamatsuAfter arriving at Miyaura Port, the departure is approximately 5 to 10 minutes later.Diamond(with some exceptions), there is 1 to 2 per hour.

Where can I buy town bus tickets? Do you have a one-day unlimited ride pass?

You do not need a ticket. Please pay 100 yen per adult each time you get off the bus inside the bus. There is no change machine on the bus, so please prepare coins in advance. You can exchange money at Umi-no-Eki.
Also, there are no one-day unlimited ride passes.

Can a group ride the town bus?

As the bus is a minibus with a capacity of 28 people, groups of more than 10 people are requested to charter a bus for their island visit.
If it's full and you can't all fit, the group will be split up.
