A cappella?
2021/05/25
How are you doing during this early rainy season?
Naoshima experiences torrential downpours, sudden clear skies, gentle drizzles, and overcast gloom. The recent sunny Sunday had a wonderfully refreshing and pleasant climate. Furthermore, even within the small island, the weather often differs by district.
Mosquitoes have started appearing. And insects and crabs have also started to appear energetically.
The red crabs sometimes seen walking on the roads, especially in the Honmura district, are called "Akappe" by some. Small blue crabs are apparently also called "Gantsu". I was surprised when I saw them walking around inside the town hall as if it were normal. It seems that Akappe turn red or brown depending on their activity during mating season, and the ones commonly seen are brown. So, seeing an Akappe is considered lucky, but unfortunately, they are often run over by cars on the road.
Asphalt roads are normal to walk on, but they can cause cyclists to slip and have accidents. Since they are small and hard to see, please be very careful when riding a bicycle.
The U-shaped pattern in the center of the shell looks like a smiling face, which is cute.
